- Update 1.10 May 13,1994
-
- This Host alternative is for QmodemPro for Windows version 1.10.
- It is the same as Host103.zip except that it has been updated to
- match the host version that comes with QMWIN PRO 1.10.
-
-
- Before you use this script, move your old script files dealing with
- host to a temporary directory in case it doesn't work for you!
-
- Files included in this zip file are:
- file_id.diz (short description file).
- host.mnu (reflecting change in directory option).
- host.scc (compiled script for host).
- host.scr (host mode..up or download path prompting).
- hostcfg.scr (no change).
- hostutil.scr (no change).
- hostmsg.scr (no change).
- hostfile.scr (allows listing of files for the changed directory).
- hostdos.scr (contains the guts of the change directory option).
- hostc.hlp (host on line help for change directory).
- lookat.me (this file!).
-
- This update fixes the bug that locks the script if a download path is
- not specified. When the host is executed, a warning will appear that
- the download and\or upload path is blank if that is the case. Also
- if an invalid path is entered in the upload or download path, it will
- simply not allow the upload or download process to occur. It is up
- to the sysop to make sure that the paths are entered properly and
- that being the case, all will succeed without a problem (I hope).
-
- An alternative HOST script for Qmodem Pro for Windows. This script
- allows a user with sysop access to <C>hange directories and\or drives
- much the same as the present <S>hell to DOS and then echoes the path
- that was changed to. What makes this good is that the <F>ile Listing
- command lists the files from the directory changed to (on host
- startup, files are listed according to download path as specified in
- host setup). If a user (with access of "1" and the sysop download from
- any path box is checked in the host setup) wants to download a file
- from a different drive and\or path then what is specified in the host
- setup, all the user has to do is <C>hange Directory to the path
- desired, do "dir" or do a <F>ile Listing to see the file they want, then
- <D>ownload the file(answer the protcol question) just by typing in the file
- name. No need to type in the full path although that is still possible.
- The present path is listed for the user so they know that they are in
- the path they desire when they type in the file name. Uploads are handled
- according to upload path specified in host setup. Users with "0"
- access have same privledges as before with uploads and downloads
- handled again as specified by host setup. Change directory and Shell to
- Dos are locked out for "0" access users. Floppy drives A and B are not
- accessible from the change directory option. The nice thing about
- this script is that the sysop can allow access to files anywhere
- on the computer without the dangers that the Dos shell can bring
- such as DELETE! The Shell can still be reserved for the sysop only
- since a password is still required to access this option.
- The "Chat" and "backspace" bugs have been fixed according to MSI
- recommendations.
- Hope someone can use this alternative and enjoy it. I sure had fun
- putting it together!
-
- Jack Beukelman.
-
- Good Luck and enjoy!
